This game is still in early acces since 2014( don't know why) but it's very good and looks promosing.
I played this game when it was launched and it had a lot of problems and I mean A LOT. After the developers worked very hard, now it runs very good on almost every average PC.

In The Forest, the player must survive on a forested island after a plane crash during which mutants are seen taking the player's son away. The player survives by creating shelter, weapons, and other survival tools. Inhabiting the island, along with various woodland creatures, are a tribe of nocturnal, mutants who dwell in deep caves beneath the island. While they are not necessarily always hostile to the player, their usual behavior is aggressive, especially during the night. However, the developers want players to question whether the island's cannibalistic tribe is the enemy of the player, or vice versa.

The Forest was inspired by cult films such as The Descend and Cannibal Holocaust and video games like Minecraft and Don't Starve, and was accepted as part of Steam Greenlight in 2013. Developers Endnight Games have said that was an inspiration for the game, commenting that they do not want the whole game to be entirely "dark and depressing." The game is being developed to be compatible with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. The development team has released a patch for a multiplayer mode, and have said that a co-op mode could add to the sense of randomness in the game, though they wish to stay away from the massive multiplayer feel of DayZ or Rust.

It looks gory and dark...I like it! lol It actually does look pretty good. I always liked the idea of Minecraft by cant stand the way that it looks so I like that about it, and the whole surviving against freaky zombie things is awesome when done right.

I actually got to play this a while ago and i really enjoyed it!
For me the most exciting part of the game is that You need to gather the right materials and plan where you will build a hut or a fire. The player must remember that there always being observed by cannibals, which creates a near perfect climate of tension and terror! Which i really like!
And to increase the difficulty, your character also suffers from other elements such as temperature, lack of food, fatigue and may even die poisoned or sick, just like in "DayZ". It's necessary that the player try to control all these elements, thus creating a higher difficulty for players who prefer more casual games.
The Forest is still in development, but it is possible to play a very complete game, I enjoyed it.

I still wonder where is the kid.. I mean in this game you have to find that kid.
I saw some youtube videos and it looks like it's still in development but they have money.. I don't understand what's happening. They do a lot of updates but don't finish the story.

Is this game still available? The concept is quite new to me since I played Dota 2 a lot recently. This really looks good, and the survival type concept really is awesome. I might play this game, NEED to play is more appropriate I think.

Yes, this game is still available and will be forever I think. Wait for the winter sales on steam. It's worth waiting and you don't spend a lot(I think 15$ is too much for the forest)

Thanks for the heads up on this, I would've tried it sooner. I would just wait for it on sale. Are there more of these games? I'm kind of intrigued with these genre since it's actually my first time to hear one.
